QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

BACKGROUND

QS Originally began the process of ranking universities internationally by identifying the primary on world-class universities: research quality, graduate employability, teaching, experience, and international outlook. It then sought ways of measuring each of these.
QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
Previously known as Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings, the publisher had collaborated with Times Higher Education (THE) magazine to publish its international league tables from 2004 to 2009 before both started to announce their own versions.
QS then chose to continue using the pre-existing methodology, while THE adopted a new methodology to create their rankings.

REQUIREMENT

The QS World University Ranking compiles information using the following six simple metrics that effectively capture university performance

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

All universities in the world with a strong commitment to sustainability issues can participate in the QS World University Rankings.

3	Faculty/Student Ratio	Full Time Equivalent (FTE) students Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Faculty
4	Citations per faculty	This indicator is calculated using data from Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, which contains 47 million records and over 19,500 titles from 5,000 publishers worldwide.
5	International Faculty Ratio	The International Faculty Index is simply based on the proportion of faculty members that are international.
6	International Student Ratio	The International Students Index is based on the proportion of students that are international.
